Exciting New Highway Font!

Posted in Design, Design Patterns by Steven Schrab on the August 16th, 2007

Well, maybe not that exciting, but a pretty damn good article on the new font for US Highways, “Clearview,” that will be replacing the nearly half-a-century-old Highway Gothic. Good explanation of the problems with the old font and how the designer went about solving that problem. Really, this may save lives… with fonts!

It is a NY Times article, so you may need to register (it’s free) with them to see it. They usually let you look at one article for free though.

My fish, my favorite has gone missing. Mr. Burns holds the 3-eyed fish in the bowl front and center … and the fish w/bowl is missing. Did he roll away, or was he knapped? Keep your 3 eyes out for him.
